EasyMonitor by ODIN Automates RFID Infrastructure
ODIN technologies (www.odintechnologies.com) releases the EasyMonitor™ software as a service (SaaS) offering. EasyMonitor is the first product that fully automates RFID monitoring, performance optimization, and infrastructure maintenance. ODIN's software team has been building EasyMonitor since 2004, employing in-depth physics expertise to address common customer needs in the field. The tool is designed for both end-users and resellers looking to make RFID easy.
ODIN's vast experience gained from nearly 200 paid RFID projects worldwide helped the team identify system problems when RFID is scaled and deployed in production. Over the past year, ODIN has automated more than 40 sites globally with EasyMonitor, all in production environments to ensure the robustness of the general release. The software service significantly increases RFID performance while reducing costly maintenance and down time and can be deployed in less than a day. EasyMonitor clients have achieved more than 99.5% uptime and 99% accuracy.
The EasyMonitor software service allows enterprises to view and optimize their performances down to the antenna level from anywhere in the world in real time, using an intuitive blueprint-like interface. Help desks and support teams have used EasyMonitor to drastically reduce the number of on-site support visits and routine maintenance time associated with firmware upgrades and configuration management. A single help-desk technician can manage thousands of readers world-wide without the need for in-depth RFID training or knowledge. EasyMonitor is changing the way large-scale RFID projects are sustained through three critical differentiators:
- Automation of RF performance and infrastructure maintenance and support
- Provisioned as a hosted Software as a Service (SaaS) model which reduces time and costsupport
- Agent based peer-to-peer architecture to ensure resiliency and optimized performancesupport
"EasyMonitor's public launch allows the entire RFID industry to automate monitoring, performance optimization, and maintenance tasks in a scalable manner, " notes Kevin MacDonald who has overseen product development at ODIN technologies. "Before today, enterprises had to rely on manual and rudimentary server-based ping systems; now the RFID infrastructure and its related support scales itself. With EasyMonitor, enterprises scale easily from pilot to large scale production with a sound ROI. EasyMonitor can be deployed in less than a day and you can add readers as needed. It is the easiest solution on the market. "
GlobeRanger's iMotion Smart Network Appliance Product (SNAP)
GlobeRanger Corporation (www.globeranger.com) pioneered the creation of an information processing software infrastructure at the edge of the enterprise. This enables companies to harness data generated outside traditional IT environments to improve their business processes and move closer to being real-time organizations.
Edge process management is a critical component of successful RFID deployments. GlobeRanger's acclaimed iMotion platform continues to lead the industry with its full-featured and rich edge process management capability.
However, initial pilots and multi-site deployments involving fairly standard and unvarying workflows may not require the sophisticated process creation and management features of the standard iMotion platform.
Introducing the iMotion Smart Network Appliance Product (SNAP), GlobeRanger has combined the proven performance and reliability of iMotion with speed, economy, and ease of deployment. iMotion SNAP is designed for environments where a light footprint product may be required – where there is a fixed, simple, and fairly constant workflow; where there are multiple, identical locations; where there is limited or no IT support; and where deployment budgets are tight. iMotion SNAP is design to support small-sized, single-facility deployments. Examples are retail chain outlets and branch locations.
iMotion SNAP provides advanced device management with a true edge processing environment as opposed to the network traffic routing approach of other network appliance vendors. Built on a standard, open platform (.NET), iMotion SNAP is more accessible than black boxes that require scripting to make changes.
GlobeRanger's iMotion SNAP will be available for production deployments in 3Q 2008 at a projected list price of around $14,900.
