Label Converting

Three Part intTag System By WS Packaging

WS Packaging (www.wspackaging.com) has developed a three part system, the intTag system, for corrugators to improve RFID label productivity. Through this system, lead time is significantly reduced and label application is capable of 15,000 to 18,000 units per hour. Encoding accuracy is also ensured 100%.

The first component of the intTag system is the pre-encoding of their tags with Serial Global Trade Identifier Numbers (SGTIN). WS Packaging offers this for RFID self adhesive and inlay tags, RFID blank labels that discreetly cover up inlays, RFID direct thermal and thermal transfer printable labels, and RFID preprinted prime labels.

The online service, Webflex, then takes over to make sure labels get to the corrugators on time. Customers are able to place orders, proof, check status verification, confirm inventory, and track shipment through this system. Lead times average between three and four weeks.

Label applicators are the next components for the system. intTag applicators are designed for integration with existing converter equipment, including printing and paper form equipment, flexo-folder-gluers, paper-box folder-gluers, and offline stand alone feeder-gluers.

Two intTag applicator models are offered: a standard speed unit and a high speed unit. Bother offer ease of operation and minimal downtime thanks to quick access to all maintenance parts on the machine. The standard model can be used for top or side application and can produce 7,200 labels per hour. Read verify and reject, and custom RFID tag projection and adaptable read zone options are available. The high speed applicator can produce 15,000-18,000 labels per hour and can be used as for a top or bottom application. It can be configured to verify EPC Gen 2 UHF and custom UHF and HF tag systems.

The third component to the intTag system is validation features that assure only good products are shipped while bad tags are automatically bypassed.
