Smart&Secure Technology Enters Retail

MIKOH Corporation's Smart&Secure Retail Tag was developed to meet the security needs of the retail industry and the privacy needs of the consumer. Through the use of this tag, customers are allowed to decrease the read distance of a tag after purchase, eliminating the possibility of reading the tag from a distance greater than a few inches.

Unlike other RFID retail tag technologies, retailers can reactivate the read distance of a Smart&Secure Retail Tag if the product is returned, allowing products to be reintroduced to into inventory and tracked in the same way as an unsold item.

Further improving the integrity of the merchandise in the supply chain, the Smart&Secure Retail Tag includes MIKOH's patented Smart&Secure tamper-evident technology, which confirms the RFID integrity of the tag. Smart&Secure disables the tag if it is tampered with or moved, preventing the tag from being placed on a counterfeit item that is then returned to the store. This ensures that a functional tag indicates a genuine product and that stores do not unknowingly reintroduce compromised or forged items into store inventory. Visit www.mikoh.com.

Onboard Security Tags from SecureRF

SecureRF Corporation, (www.securerf.com) announces the immediate availability of its LIghtweight Multistream Encryption Tag (LIME Tag) with Onboard Security and cold chain management features. This battery-assisted passive tag uses SecureRF's security technology that authenticates and encrypts data communications on the tag itself. It is an item-level solution that provides tamper-proof data storage on the tag, and ensures privacy by allowing only authorized readers access to sensitive information. The LIME Tag will also help pharmaceutical manufacturers and other cold chain distributors track and monitor product temperature history.

The company's strong LIME Tag is based on SecureRF and industry standard security protocols. SecureRF's solutions include integration technology that allows its tags to be used with most of today's Gen 2 compliant readers without the need for firmware upgrades. This will allow currently deployed systems to easily upgrade to a fully secured supply chain with little cost or change to their current network.

The LIME Tag also includes a temperature sensor to address cold chain management issues by monitoring and securely recording an item-level temperature history. Tracking temperature sensitive, high value pharmaceuticals, and biologicals from production to use is increasingly critical to ensuring drug safety and efficacy.

The battery-assisted tag supports EPCglobal Class 1 Gen 2 standards and is available for industry pilots immediately. SecureRF plans to add secure passive and active tags to its product offering in the fourth quarter of 2007.
