Fluensee's RFID Starter Kit

An out-of-the-box RFID starter kit is now available through Fluensee (www.fluensee.com). The AssetTrack Express is ideal for companies new to RFID implementation and allows them to quickly and easily begin asset tracking.

Including everything a company needs to begin asset tracking, the AssetTrack Express can usually be installed and running within a day. The standard kit comes with a rugged handheld RFID reader, up to 250 assorted passive RFID tags, a set-up guide and support services. Modified kits offer a stationary reader or a custom amount of tags for an extra cost.

The AssetTrack Express is platform and hardware vendor agnostic and does not require additional computing infrastructure installation. It can also work alongside of existing barcode and other automatic identification technologies. This system is ideal for manufacturers, companies with high-value corporate assets, and rental companies who need to keep a close watch on their equipment. Larger organizations are offered the enterprise-level asset manager solution called AssetTrack.

Patient Safety Solutions by Precision Dynamics Corporation

PDC (www.pdcorp.com) and IntelliDOT Corporation have announced that they are working together to deliver a patient safety solution. IntelliDOT will develop and install the point of care barcode systems for hospital use, while Precision Dynamics will manufacture and sell barcode and RFID enabled patient identification wristbands.

The wristbands used for the operation are embedded with patient information through either barcode or RFID technology to ensure patient safety and staff efficiency. This system ensures an easier to use bedside system, so that staff can recall patient information quickly and correctly. Both companies will benefit through this partnership that provides the system with the accessories, and vice versa.

Rick Ellis, the Vice President of Business Development at Precision Dynamics says: "In this joint relationship with IntelliDOT, PDC looks forward to maximizing both of our efforts to be able to protect patient safety through point of care technology."

PDC has also launched a successful patient care implementation at the Chang-Gung Memorial Hospital (CGMH) in Taiwan. Patient ID in the operating room has achieved 100% accuracy, and ensures the right surgery and surgical site. The system also verifies that the five rights of medication are safely met -right patient, medication, dose, time, and route. The system saves CGMH staff members an average of 4.3 minutes per patient and has helped prevent common manual entry mistakes which could lead to medical errors. In fact, the hospital has not had any patient identification errors since implementing the system.

PDC Smart Band RFID Wristbands and HP RFID PDA readers, handheld readers, and printers make up the hardware for the patient protection system. HP's technology consulting, process design, system development, and deployment make up the framework support.
