e-connectware Software Suite by TAGSYS
TAGSYS (www.tagsysrfid.com) announces e-connectware, a software suite designed to manage global RFID networks. The e-connectware platform is a comprehensive set of management and administrative tools that deliver the highest quality of service levels to ensure data accuracy and data integrity in item-level tagging.
e-connectware dramatically accelerates RFID deployments by enabling centralized deployment, management, and administration of RFID readers and application systems, pro-active monitoring of those systems, on-the-fly performance tuning, and even fail-over and recovery. e-connectware's distributed network architecture enables customers to scale up to 10,000 nodes without performance penalties or the addition of back-end compute resources.
e-connectware is comprised of three different products that provide increasing levels of capability and scale to allow customers the flexibility to choose the product that best fits their needs. The three e-products are:
- Essentials - provides intelligent management and monitoring of TAGSYS reader infrastructure at a local level with a single user interface.
- Enterprise - provides remote management, administration, and control of TAGSYS reader infrastructure on a networked, multi-site basis with increasing levels of performance required.
- Global - provides remote management, administration, and control of heterogeneous reader infrastructure on a net worked, global level with mission critical quality of service requirements.
The Essentials edition is available immediately, with the Enterprise and Global editions available starting the second half of 2007.
RFID on a Desk Version 2.0 By Adaptive RFID
Based on demand from companies in smaller volume shipping environments for compliance capabilities at a "slap-and-ship" price, Adaptive RFID, Inc. has developed RFID on a Desk, version 2.0. This line of products provides a complete solution to deploy optimized RFID compliance.
Adaptive RFID's flagship solution, RFIDSHIPIT!, was the foundation for the idea behind the RFID on a Desk line. This flagship solution offers closed-loop RFID compliance, integrated with ERP and WMS for medium-to-high volume shipping environments. This solution wasn't plausible for smaller shipping companies however, due to price point that couldn't be justified by the operations.
The RFID on a Desk line of products fully meets the demands for smaller volume companies. The complete solution affordably optimizes RFID compliance through closed loop shipment control and integrated electronic commerce. The open platform design integrates IUID label scanners into the process, and synchronizes it with RFID in an integrated electronic Advanced Ship Notice (ASN). The solution provides everything needed to maintain and update compliancy, train users, and makes sure the DoD confirms ASN's are correct before shipping.
Solution packages come in Standard and Extended Edition. Both packages include the Adaptive RFID Appliance with RFID middleware and compliance software, Alien 9800 Reader/Encoder and antennae with mounting hardware, Alien 96-bit Class 1 Gen 2 Squiggle tags, an uninterruptible power supply, router/bridge, and professional services and support. The Extended Edition includes a Zebra 110Xilll printer and shop floor control functionality for closed-loop verification of multi-pallet workflows. Customers can also upgrade from the RFID on a Desk line to the RFIDSHIPIT! solution once their production has exceeded the needs of a small shipping volume environment. Visit www.adaptiverfid.com.
GlobeRanger Launches DoD Supplier Solution Accelerator
GlobeRanger (www.globeranger.com), a leading provider of RFID edge software, mobility, and sensor-based applications for both enterprise and government customers, launches its new DoD Supplier Solution Accelerator. Built on its iMotion Edgeware platform, the offering meets the DoD's stringent requirements that all DoD manufacturers and suppliers subject to Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations Supplement (DFARS) regulations be RFID-enabled, which also requires the submittal of Advanced Ship Notices (ASN) through the electronic Wide Area Work Flow (WAWF) capability.
"iMotion is designed to quickly adapt to and integrate new technologies as they become available, simplifying the rapid development, deployment, and management of edge solutions," says Michael Bigbee, Vice President and General Manager of Government and Aerospace for GlobeRanger. "As the core of our new DoD Supplier Solution Accelerator, it provides both our partners and end-users alike with unprecedented technology flexibility for growth, while 'future-proofing' their investment."
GlobeRanger, in partnership with Psion Teklogix (www.psionteklogix.com), has already demonstrated its ability to not only meet, but exceed the DoD's demanding performance requirements through its successful iMotion deployment for the Defense Logistics Agency's expanding passive RFID infrastructure at multiple Defense Distribution Center (DDC) sites. iMotion's comprehensive systems management and device monitoring capabilities enable DDC operations staff to monitor and manage equipment locally or centrally throughout DDC's facilities. As the only software device management tool in operation, iMotion allows DDC staff to easily set and maintain optimum functionality across the entire network of devices, from passive RFID readers and motion sensors to light stacks, printers, and handheld readers.
GlobeRanger's new offering meets the following DoD RFID supplier requirements:
- RFID Tagging: RFID tagging is required for all DoD manufacturers and suppliers who have new contracts subject to the DFARS 252.211-7006 contract clause, or existing contracts that are amended and include the clause.
- Electronic Data Exchange: For all RFID tagged shipments, a Receiving Report or Advanced Ship Notice (ASN) must be submitted through WAWF.
- The Advanced Shipping Notice/Receiving Transition: Lists the contents of a shipment of goods and any information relating to the shipment. As part of the mandate, suppliers are required to submit standard ASN (856) transactions to WAWF.
The DoD Supplier Solution Accelerator streamlines the transition from today's barcode-based and manual processes to more automated RFID-enabled systems, enabling DoD RFID suppliers to:
- Easily implement and comply with current DoD mandates,
- Accelerate shipping/transportation data timeliness and accuracy into WAWF,
- Reduce payment process intervals,
- Improve in-transit and asset visibility, and
- Increase demand/information flow.
ROI Calculator Provided by Accu-Sort
Return on Investment numbers can now be estimated thanks to Accu-Sort Systems' online ROI Calculator. This calculator provides guidance and expected ROI outcomes for three "Challenges" - Automated Labeling, Verification, and Package Distribution; Linear and Omnidirectional Laser Scanner Tunnels; and High-Speed Camera Systems. Customers can enter their own criteria for accurate expectancies for their individual scenarios.
The Automated Labeling, Verification, and Package Distribution Challenge provides a "what you see is what you get" set-up. Offering up to 50 label formats in a wide range of sizes and accommodations for multisided, multilabel, and high throughput applications, the system focuses on two scenarios - reducing labor while maintaining the same throughput, and increasing throughput while keeping labor the same.
The Laser Omnidirectional Scanner Tunnels Challenge focuses on linear and omnidirectional scanners for tunnels. Three scenarios are offered: Increasing read rate over old technology, reducing maintenance and repair costs, and speeding replacement and reducing downtime.
The Camera Challenge shows the simplified installation, unmatched read rates opportunities, and reliability of camera-based scanning tunnels. Three scenarios focused on in this challenge include increasing read rate over old technology, reducing label and labeling costs, and reducing maintenance and repair costs.
