P2S2 Security System Uses RFID in Transportation

Private Pallet Security Systems, LLC (www.p2s2llc.com) has patented a system that uses RFID technology to utilize the undercarriage of trucks for higher levels of security. The system enables businesses, government entities, and private parties to transport anything of critical value with ultimate security. The line of P2S2 containers can also be used for secure marine transport when housed in shipping containers, or for secure air transport of goods.

"In the simplest terms we have a box," says Rogers Brackmann, President and Founder of the company. "The box provides seven layers of security for storing or transporting anything of value." Valuables protected by the system may include legal records, police evidence, sensitive electronics, art, bonds and securities, military equipment, musical instruments, etc. Private Pallet offers the P2S2 container in three sizes: the Pallet Unit is 48" x 40" x 33", the Mobile Unit measures 40" x 31" x 33", and the Courier Unit is 22.5" x 17.5" x 11.5".

The P2S2 pallets provide these seven layers of security:

  1. Physical Integrity — These rugged polyethylene containers have a stainless steel exoskeleton and include a 120 decibel alarm triggered by an unauthorized entry.
  2. Electronic Locking — Nexgen™ system by Medeco™ Programming is done over the Internet by placing the key in a cradle and entering an authorization code. An audit trail tracks all key and lock activity.
  3. Tracking — MultiTrack® layered tracking technology combines four electronic disciplines that provide overlapping and thus redundant coverage: Quad Band, AGPS/GPS, SCM, active RFID.

Quad Band — The P2S2 tracking system is anchored by a quad-band transceiver/ modem. It works over the four prime Frequency Bands, allowing connection to all of the International Cell Systems that are available around the world today.

AGPS/GPS — If line-of-site GPS is not available Private Pallet locates the P2S2 units via auxiliary AGPS. Even in enclosed spaces the location of a client's valuables can thus be pinpointed and reported.

SCM — Should the "Katrina Effect" shut down a power-grid location, a satellite communication module would accomplish the necessary data reporting.

RFID — Additionally, active RFID is included so that P2S2 location and movement through distribution portals can be detected and inventoried.

  1. Activity Sensing — Temperature, humidity, shock, and unauthorized entry (motion detection) are monitored by selective sensors located inside the unit. All activity is noted and the occurrence and location are posted to Private Pallet's server. Simultaneously, the owner is called and a text message sent. A photo sensor can document openings with a picture that can also be posted to the server.
  2. Environmental Monitoring — Ports in upper and lower portions of the container allow for infusion of gases to deplete any negative environment. Additionally, the ports can be used to detect contents in the environment prior to opening to determine the presence of explosives, narcotics, anthrax, etc.
  3. Environmental Cleansing — These same patented ports in the container allow the introduction of special chemical disinfecting agents that can provide decontamination of a container before it is re-used. Private Pallet believes this Airborne Disinfectant & Decontamination Process, or ADDP, is unique in the security shipping and warehousing field.
  4. Blast Protection — Linings can be provided for blast mitigation. Tests by British authorities have shown these materials yield protection even from bombs the size of the one that downed the Lockerbie plane.
