SkyeTek's SkyeModule Is Small in Size and Expense

The M9 UHF SkyeModule from SkyeTek Inc. (www.skyetek.com) is now available. It claims to be the world's smallest, least expensive, EPC Class 1, Gen 1 and 2, and ISO 18000-6B/C OEM reader module that meets regulatory compliance requirements for the world's major markets including North America, Europe, Korea, and Japan. It is designed for embedded UHF applications (item-level inventory, handheld reading/encoding, and printing) and has a footprint roughly half the size of a standard business card.

It is based on SkyeTek's Advanced Universal Reader Architecture (AURA) and has a ReaderWare software layer, providing advanced reader intelligence. It offers support for anti-collision, dense reader mode, security, inductive UHF, and a broad array of tags, including Gen 2 silicon. It is priced at $199.00 per module and $59.00 per ReaderWare license.

"UHF in RFID is typically associated with dock door readers used in supply chains," says Drew Nathanson, RFID Practice Director at Venture Development Corporation. "We believe embedded applications, where the reader becomes designed into shelves, containers, and machinery, will drive the next wave of significant RFID adoption in both UHF and HF."
