PDC's AgeBand® Enforces Drinking Age Restrictions

Precision Dynamics Corporation (PDC) offers its RFID-enabled AgeBand® system to ensure legal drinking age of attendees of events. It scans and verifies IDs and instantly prints a wristband with pertinent patron information, including the date-time of check and the number 21 to indicate the age is verified. It provides defensible action against underage drinking; reduces instances of human errors that occur when manually checking IDs; and provides non-transferable positive age verification, access control, and security.

Supporting the AgeBand system is IntelliCheck's PDA-like device, ID-Check Mobile, which also scans and verified a patron's identification and age, offering additional mobility and flexibility to the overall age verification system. This system was used at this year's and last year's AmsterJam—a Heineken-sponsored music festival in New York City in August. Last year, the event sold out with over 30,000 concert goers, over 1,000 of which where turned away using AgeBand and other age verification systems.

A new version was used this year that consisted of a touch-screen monitor packaged in a more portable, fully integrated unit. A "recurring" feature was added, which detects if an ID has already been swiped through the system and a wristband printed. It also has two levels of security for the recurring feature: high and moderate. "High" does not allow an ID to be accepted more than once during a given period of time (the user sets the time period). No wristband will print and an override option is not given. "Moderate" allows an ID to be scanned multiple times but a warning pop-up gives the user a "yes" or "no" choice on whether to print a second band nor not. Visit www.pdcorp.com.
