Intermec and Cascade Offer a Fresh Approach to Forklift Integration

Intermec is collaborating with Cascade Corp., a manufacturer of forklift attachments, to produce a forklift system that incorporates RFID technology into the forklift’s infrastructure. This would replace the current approach that has many companies attaching readers externally to the forklift, leaving them exposed in rough warehouse environments.

The new forklifts will incorporate dashboard computers, easy-to-reach RFID controls assimilated into the forklift’s control mechanisms, wireless real-time location tracking and navigational LEDs for optimal routings, and easy-to-adjust RFID readers fashioned into the frame of the vehicle’s attachments for flexible and accurate use. It will also utilize a cable management system, wireless scanning capabilities, and an embedded camera for documentation.
