Vue Technology(www.vuetechnology.com) and Click Commerce(www.clickcommerce.com) Create End-to-End RFID-Enabled Solution

Vue Technology had partnered its TrueVue(tm) platform with Click Commerce's warehouse management execution software to create Intelligent Supply Chain. This supply chain RFID solution is a cradle-to-grave example of how products can be tagged and shipped throughout the supply chain and how they can be monitored in real time through existing warehouse execution systems. It integrates real-time RFID information at the item, case, and pallet level into the traditional warehouse execution processes (such as order fulfillment, cycle counts, and receive/return options).

Intelligent Supply Chain addresses some of the primary obstacles of RFID implementation—cost of deployment and integration with legacy-based systems. "Readers are costly enough that to use RFID beyond the dock door is an expensive proposition," says Tim Kaenel, VP of Business Development for Vue. The TrueVue platform allows readers to pick up signals from hundreds or thousands or readers instead of the normal one to four, dramatically reducing the number of readers needed and reducing the cost of deployment.

With the ability to track products within the four walls of an environment comes the challenge of getting that information into the traditional warehouse management software that today relies on barcode and data entry information. Click's RFID-enabled software provides the sense and respond capabilities necessary to manage complex supply chains in real time.

"The relationship goes beyond the dock door and portal," says Kaenel. "What this has accomplished is a complete integration with a warehouse execution software, and RFID at a price point that makes it affordable to widely deploy throughout an environment and get a much greater ROI."
