Stratum Global's TagNet® v2.0 Suite

Stratum Global (www.stratumglobal.com) released TagNet® v2.0—an RFID solution suite that supports object networks and is agnostic to deployed platforms such as edge servers, smart devices, and enterprise servers. Its various modules integrate RFID data with business logic in real time. It supports an increasing number of mainstream reader makes and models. The base architecture for this suite is TagNet Foundation Module. From this foundation, the various TagNet® modules support specific applications, such as TagTrack(tm) (enabling lift trucks), AssetTrack(tm) (for asset tracking), and TagMap(tm) (for tag commissioning and inventory management).

"TagNet is not a developer's environment requiring a huge investment of internal IT resources, it's a release supported business solution that enables front-line logistics and operations staff to deploy RFID where it makes sense," says Alan Christensen, Chief Technical Officer. "The immediate benefit is being able to collect and monitor RFID events passively without the need for direct human intervention to scan and/or input data into various data collection devices.

TagNet has an open architecture that insulates customers from hardware-specific nuances of RFID reader manufactures and provides one common interface for reader management. The company supports the EPCglobal Middleware Standard known as ALE (Application Level Events), addressing logical readers and the event subscription model. TagNet is highly scaleable—initially enabling a small deployment for compliancy that can scale to limitless portals, or read points, for closed loop.

Vue Technology's and Symbol's Item-Level ROI-Driven Solution

Vue Technology (www.is-mwv.com) has released its TrueVue(tm) Platform, and ROI-driven item-level solution, enabling manufacturers and retailers to increase visibility of inventory levels, location, and authenticity, as well as reduce out-of-stocks, shrinkage, and labor costs. It uses networking technology to link hundreds or thousands of antennas to a single reader (as opposed to the traditional eight), eliminating the hefty cost and process of networking so multiple readers.

Vue has teamed with Symbol Technologies (www.symbol.com) to integrate Vue's RF networking technology and EPC management software with Symbol's fixes and handheld readers, tags, and peripheral devices. The goal is to expand the scope of RFID from pallet- and case-level distribution applications focusing on broad supply chain visibility to in-store applications that focus on achieving enhanced on-shelf availability and sales for specific product categories.

"As the retail industry embraces item-level RFID to achieve unheard of levels of inventory visibility, Vue Technology is the only company to offer an item-level solution that delivers significant results and measurable ROI at the same time," says Robert Locke, CEO of Vue Technology. Seagull Scientific's BarTender RFID Enterprise Edition

Seagull Scientific (www.seagullscientific.com) has released its new highest-end offering in its line of label design and printing software: BarTender RFID Enterprise Edition. To use the system, the user clicks on BarTender's toolbox to create RFID objects. These are then ready for simple mouse motions to "drag-and-drop" the objects onto the onscreen label designs.

Formats currently supported by BarTender include DoD, SGTIN, SSCC, GIAI, GID, GRAI, and SGLN (for both 64 and 96 bit tags). Users may also specify their own custom RFID data formats. An onscreen RFID tag display lets the user see in advance whether any label objects are being placed in undesirable locations. BarTender RFID Enterprise Edition also comes with the new "Drivers by Seagull" version 7.0, supporting over 50 RFID-enabled printer models from 10 printer manufacturers.

Don Ray, President of Seagull Scientific comments that, "With the release of our RFID Enterprise Edition, users can now create RFID compliance labels about as easily as simple labels with just barcodes and text. Whether the goal is a stripped-down RFID pilot or a heavily integrated and networked smart label system, our customers can get into production quickly and monitor and maintain their labeling processes more cost effectively with BarTender."
