Atmel's UHF Demo Kit
Atmel® announces the availability of its new UHF RFID long-range demonstration kit for the evaluation of its high-performance TAGIDU(tm) IDIC® ATA5590. The demo kit can operate at distances of up to 12 meters. Asynchronous low-power design architecture and the PSK-modulation feature in the return link (backscatter) allow this, making it suitable for logistics applications. It is particularly useful for applications involving metal or liquid.
The kit consists of a Deister long-range UHF reader (UDL500), an interface converter, a power supply, all necessary cables, a label set with 30 different antennas, and the software necessary to build up a working UHF reader system. Two versions of the kit exist: an FCC-approved version for the U.S., with an operation frequency of 915 MHz and an output power of 4W EIRP, and an ETSI European version operating at 868 MHz with an output power of 2W ERP.
The TAGIDU IDIC ATA5590 is designed for intelligent passive tags and labels. Some features include a link mechanism, low power consumption, simultaneous operation of multiple tags in the field of one reader antenna, and 1024 bits of user memory (and 320 bits of system memory). It can be configured to either Tag Talk First (TTF) or Reader Talk First (RTF) operation mode. Go to www.atmel.com.
